The story behind the banana

About TapeBanana

We started with a complaint about walls.

Most of them are beige. Most of them stay that way. Not because people don’t care, but because filling a wall usually means committing to something serious: a framed print, a gallery wall, a hole in the plaster, or an awkward conversation with the landlord.

We thought walls could be a little more fun.

01 / The origin story

Where It Came From

We’re two friends making quirky art under the name EpicSculpts, from our studio in Sofia — a place with great afternoon light and a suspicious amount of paint where it shouldn’t be.

Foam, resin, paint, tape — whatever an idea demands. Most days end with something on the workbench that didn’t exist that morning.

One of those ideas refused to stay on the bench.

Everyone knows the banana: a piece of fruit duct-taped to a wall, sold for more than a car and debated for weeks. We loved the idea that something so ridiculous could become a genuine piece of cultural conversation.

So we made our own.

People kept asking for it.

And eventually, TapeBanana became its own thing.
